Presentations:

One project we have is to take a survey that will determine jobs that fit your personality. Then it narrows down job choice based on "zones." These zones are categorized based on how much training/school you will need to have that job/career.           The students pick a job from their results to research. Then they create and GIVE  the presentation they created.
One way to help deal with the stress of having to stand in front of their peers and give their presentations is to use "support chairs."
The students have to have 3 people in front of the room at all times and they choose when to be a "support" person. But the rule is, if you are a support person then you have to give your presentation while you are up there.

It is a technique learned from a training and I think it was supper helpful and the kids enjoyed it. They took owner ship of when they would present, they helped their classmates feel better, and they didn't feel alone or as anxious when giving their presentations.

Smore'

The website Smore is one of my favorites as an educator. It is so easy to make new "flyers" and they are great for assignments. I have all my flyers that I have created on many different platforms and love the use I get from them. All my flyers have also been added to Smore's "The Educator Hive" where other users can go and search for flyers to use. (These have to approved.)

I was lucky enough to be asked to featured by
Smore on their blog! They did a write up on using Smore flyers for assignments and homework.

Get to know you!

Once of my favorite things about teaching tech apps is having so many students each year. Because my class is a semester long, I have two sets of kids each year. This is a great way to get to know them and see their personalities. We use word art and choose 5 adj- or words to describe oursevles.
